The magnificent and beautiful San Carlos de Bariloche lies on the banks of Lake 'Nahuel Huapi', surrounded by mountains and forests, it’s one of the prettiest Argentine cities, and of course, of the world.

Founded in 1902, it's name is a play of words between Carlos Wiederhold, the man who set up the first chain of general stores (from there, the part of 'San Carlos'), and a variation of the term 'vuriloche' (meaning 'different people from the other side') which was used by the Mapuches before they came to this region to name the villages located in the eastern zone of the Andes.
